Battle of Sutjeska Monument / Valley of Heroes Tjentište National Park Sutjeska
The Valley of Heroes Tjentište is a historical site located within the Sutjeska National Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is known for the battle on Sutjeska that took place in World War II, where Yugoslav partisans fought against Nazi forces.
This monumental memorial complex with a huge monument rising above the valley was built in 1971, the monument is a concrete tower with a large engraved star, symbolizing a breakthrough from the environment, this masterpiece is the work of sculptor Miodrag Živković.
After the Second World War, the area of Sutjeska was declared a national park and turned into a unique memorial complex. The Sutjeska National Park occupies an area of 17,500 hectares and is located on the territory of the municipalities of Foča, Gacko and Kalinovik. Sutjeska National Park is located on the main road Sarajevo-Foča-Tjentište-Bileća-Trebinje-Dubrovnik.
